Y’all. She’s done. The first project completed in 2023. And we’re only a week (and a day) in.
Once I got through all the wiring that I complained about last time, it was smooth sailing. Even the light fixture was far simpler than the library. Single strand whereas the library had three separate bulbs (all of which you wire individually).
I’m not electrician but I’ve been getting pretty handy with these tiny bulbs. Downside: this kit did not come with the 3V batteries that are supposed to come in the box.
Note: I’ve noticed this a few times with these kits and missing some tools. If you’re preparing to do something like this make sure you have your own glue, tweezers/pliers, paint. Basically all the tools they “provide.”
Because we’re not buying anything, I will wait to test out my lighting skills. It’s a cute effect but not necessary, as you can see below.
The other bonus of having your own paint, is you don’t have to stick to the colors that the kit provides. Usually their paint for the walls is white/off-white - whenever I get around to the plant room, you’ll see I used the out-of-the box paint. But you can see here I went with a deep eggplant (ok, might look black, but it’s purple) for one of the walls.
Overall pleased with this and trying to ignore the imperfections I can see (mostly in those table legs).
If I keep building these, I’m going to need to find a better way to showcase the rooms.
What shall I work on next?
