You are the bane of my existence…
And not the object of my desires. Wire work. Ugh.
I knew there was a reason I left the furniture for last. They’re all standing on wires. I know the more I practice, the better I can become, but it’s just fiddly and fights back.
At the same time, I know I just have to do it. I have to get over the idea of perfection and know that putting my best efforts will still produce a good result. It’s one of the reasons I started this blog. In a perfect world, I’d plan more and I know I may look back and cringe at some posts, wishing I’d edited more. But at a certain point, you just have to start doing.
I just don’t want to do anything with this wire.
The tacky putty in action. These are legs for a desk and the glue just takes too long to dry, so the legs would keep spreading apart or fall over.
Leaning against the wood blocks wasn’t working so I stuck the ends in the putty and it’s holding.
The completed desk. Almost worth the suffering. You can still see the imperfections - bends in the wire and slightly uneven lines, but I am very proud of this piece.
I don’t really any have tools for handling wire outside a pair of pliers - anyone have a trick or a tool that has helped them master working with wire?
Had to make this little chair too - the legs are wire - and a stool.
While waiting for the glue to dry, I put together the last wooden pieces.
I’m so close to finishing this one. All it took was holding myself accountable on a blog. Time to start looking for the next project.
